Understanding Creation and Covenant in Religious Education Training Program

To know You more clearly
Training Day 2
Branches 1,2and 3

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.

Branch 1: Care for God’s Creation/ Laudato Si’

EYFS: Believe:
CST God made the Earth and sky. God made all the people all
over the world. God made all the animals. God made all the
plants. God made the air, the ground, and the water. And
God tells us we must take good care of them. It is an
important job!
Stewardship

Y1: U1.1.4, U1.1.5  (EO)
Recognise that the Church teaches that God gave human beings the
responsibility for taking care of the world and its people and in doing this, we
show love for God and each other.
Know that Pope Francis wrote a letter, called Laudato Si’, about the gift of
Creation and the importance of taking care of the world as it is everyone’s
home

Y2: U1.2.3,  (EO)
Understand the term ‘stewardship’ and what it
means for caring for God’s world

Y3: U3.1.4 (EO)

Describe stewardship by making simple links between
Genesis 1:26-31 and people’s actions today (LS 88 on
‘ecological virtues’).

Y4:
No specific reference to Creation and care for
God’s Creation. The focus in Y4 is on the covenant
with Abraham.

Y5: U5.1.5(EO)
Catholic Social Teaching helps us to see that loving our neighbour
demands a commitment to social change and transformation:
‘We profoundly belong together and are fundamentally
dependent on one another’. (YC 321) (Believe)

Y6: U1.61.5, (EO)
Recognise that the Church teaches that God gave human beings
