What else we do.. - Primary point of contact for many students/parents. Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and City laws. Liaison between faculty/academic administration and student units. Student Conduct Function: Administer the Code of Student Conduct. Serve as resource for students, faculty, staff, and parents regarding student conduct Assist and counsel victims and accused of conduct violations Offer conflict/dispute management Mission: Promote responsibility and standards of conduct. Code of Student Conduct The Code of Student Conduct applies to all students while present on campus or at a University facility. University Police Department All are sworn officers who have attended police academy. Assist in enhancing total educational development of students. Provide law enforcement services. Promote development of healthy lifestyles. Office of Student Conduct
Department of Housing & Residence Oversee all incidents that are considered violations of the Code of Conduct/Housing Policies and Procedures Provide guidance on outcomes of incidents Office of Student Conduct
Common Violations of the Code of Student Conduct (91.100) Alcohol Unlawful sale, possession, consumption, use or distribution of alcohol Drugs Unlawful sale, possession, use, or distribution of illegal drugs Assault Any intentional behavior that causes or may cause physical harm to another individual, including simple assault, aggravated assault, fighting, and sexual assault Theft - Unauthorized use, taking, or withholding of anything of value belonging to another entity Office of Student Conduct
Common Violations of the Code of Student Conduct (91.100) Disorderly Conduct/Disruptive Behavior (Classroom Disruption) Conduct that includes violent, noisy, or drunken behavior on university controlled property or while representing the university or attending a university function, or any cation that interferes with or attempts to disrupt the learning environment Office of Student Conduct

Plagiarism As defined by the MSU Student Honor Code: The appropriation of another person s ideas, processes, results, or words without giving the appropriate credit (p.4). 52% of all reported cases involved plagiarism. Student Honor Code Office
Cheating As defined by the MSU Student Honor Code: Intentionally using or attempting to use unauthorized materials, information, notes, study aids or other devices or materials in any academic exercise (p.3) 29% of all reported cases involved cheating Student Honor Code Office
Complicity As defined by the MSU Honor Code: Intentionally or knowingly helping, or attempting to help, another to commit an act of academic dishonesty (p.5). 2.7% of all reported cases involved complicity Student Honor Code Office
Academic Fraud As defined by the MSU Honor Code: The deliberate effort to deceive and is distinguished from an honor mistake and honest differences in judgement or interpretation. (p.5). 10% of all reported cases involved academic fraud Student Honor Code Office
