  5. The Role of Film Scoring Ramin likes to think of the music as being a character in the production. (Towing the Dave and Dan line) A reliable narrator When we read George s books some narrators (POVs) are more reliable than others music is (generally) the most reliable narrator Helps us fill in those inner thoughts and feelings that we can read in the in the books through POVs Helps build tension or set our minds at ease Makes action psychologically impactful Helps to recognize who or what the scene and dialogue is about The lack of scoring can be equally impactful Sometimes the music tells the story where there is no dialogue.

  6. 4 Keys to Good Film Scoring Timbre The instrumentation used can give context for character, emotion, and even geography! Melodic Shape Does the melody climb? Does it fall? Are there big jumps between the notes? Most importantly is it memorable? Harmony Pythagoras demonstrated the universality of music as it relates to emotion. Major Happy or Hopeful, Minor Sad or Sinister Rhythm/Tempo Is it fast or slow? How is it subdivided? What is the meter (count)?

  7. Production Happens!! Sometimes new edits happen last minute!! Drogon destroying the Iron throne distinct edit from the S8 Official Soundtrack. The Lannister sends their Regards (S3 OST) has distinct differences from the score on the final scene that we just looked at in S3E09 Rains of Castamere Parts of Ironborn from S7 OST are used in his For Yara scene other parts are missing or were added later.
