cole de langues de lUL (LUL) LUL : Oldest French immersion program in Canada (Summer 1937). UL : One of the largest universities in Canada (43 000 students). UL : 1st French speaking university in North America (1852). 3 www.elul.ulaval.ca

Arrival to UL and Departure IMPORTANT DATES Semester Arrival date 1stday of class Last day of classes 1stSummer period (May-June) Saturday, May 11th Sunday, May 12th Monday, May 13th Saturday June 15th 2ndSummer period (July-August) Saturday, July 6th Sunday, July 7th Monday July 8th Saturday August 10th The first day of classes, you must be present at 7:45AM at Pavillon Charles-De Koninck s main entrance. Final exams are on the last two days of classes (Friday and Saturday). Residence Services organize a welcoming party and guided tours on the first Monday and Tuesday. 6 www.elul.ulaval.ca

2. Program and Schedule valuations Most evaluations take place during the 3rd week and the two last days of the program. Absence without a legitimate excuse = Student receives 0 on his or her exam Excused Absences List of legitimate excuses Not-for-credit status You will attend the program as a not-for-credit students, which means that your results will not appear on your Ulaval transcript However, we provide a participation certificate showing your level, the course attendance time, and your results on a scale from A to E. 9 www.elul.ulaval.ca

2. Program and Schedule French courses selection process We have 6 levels of French. All French as a second language students has its place in our program. Courses offered are on our website, under the tab Levels available https://www.flsh.ulaval.ca/en/ecole-langues/academics/french-second-foreign-language/intensive-courses-5-week French online placement test You will receive the link to the placement test in the upcoming days after receiving your registration information. 3. Sociocultural activities Mandatory Workshop Selection Once your participation to the program is confirmed, you will receive an email asking you to select your mandatory workshop. Sociocultural activities Free Optional Activities -90 free activities every semester -Sign up on the day of the activity in the French lounge, known as the Espace interculturel Examples: - Museum (beaux-arts, civilisation, Morrin Center, plaine d'Abraham) - Cooking workshops - Sports (yoga, soccer, volleyball, cross-circuit, dek hockey) - Nature hiking (National parks) - Urban hiking - Tutoring 13 www.elul.ulaval.ca
3. Sociocultural activities Paid activities (optional) Paid activities provide a low price opportunity to participate to tourism activities in the surrounding areas of Quebec City. Once your participation is confirmed, you will receive an email with our activities catalog and the process to pay them. Examples: -Outdoor excursions -Guided tours in Old Quebec city -Sugar Shack -Escape Room *IMPORTANT: spots are limited! 4. Residences Includes 35 nights. $18,43/ additional night. Family and friends outside of the program are not allowed in your residence. Residences are not designed to accommodate a family. All rooms are designed to accommodate one person only. Open 24/7 and most of the employees speak english. Security services and front desk work 24/7. To get your room, you have to go to Residences reception and tell your name. 4. Residences Universit Laval Residences Each room includes: One-person bed Bedding (cover, sheets, pillowcase) *can be changed once per week by bringing them to the reception. Desk, chair, lamp, phone, bookcase, armchair, dresser, and a closet Small refrigerator 360 degree view of a room NOT included: air-conditioning and microwave Microwave rental: Location Polar, 8$/week (40$/semester). 16 www.elul.ulaval.ca

5. Transportation Public Transport R seau de transport de la Capitale (RTC) rtcquebec.ca. One-way trip: you can pay with change on the bus ($3.75) or by ticket (3.25$, available in convenience stores) Bus pass: you can buy it in convenience stores (daily, weekly, monthly). 6. Food Supermarkets Three supermarkets within a 10 minute walk from residences. Cafeterias Two cafeterias on campus: Saveurs Campus et Sodexo. Saveurs Campus: meal plans available Sodexo: 10th meal is free. You will receive a stamp card on the first day of classes.
