Introduction and Background Service above Self - a foundation for all Rotarians Rotary Clubs work in partnerships to support and empower low-income communities to improve their socio-economic well-being Engaging international communities benefits Rotarians and other participants, building empathy for the day-to-day struggles and needs of those communities

3. El Salvador Water Supply Project Origins Rotarian John Taylor, an ex-Peace Corps volunteer in El Salvador (1977 and 1978), visited El Salvador in 2019, met with local Rotarian contacts and visited targeted communities John and members of the Rotary Club of Santa Tecla, El Salvador visited projects suggested by the community development NGO ASAPROSAR The group selected the communities of Casa Blanca based on urgent needs

6. Partnerships with Rotary in the Community Rotary Club of Shepherdstown, WV Rotary Club of Santa Tecla, San Salvador Asociacion Salvador a Pro Salud Rural ASAPROSAR Asociacion de Desarrollo Comunal Sol de Occidente, Caserio Casa Blanca Canton La Magdalena, Santa Ana/ ADESCOSDO

7. Needs Assessment and District 7360 Completed a Community Needs Assessment and identified participant communities Performed successful hydrological study $3,500 paid by the Rotary Club of Santa Tecla District 7360 Foundation Committee selected El Salvador Water Supply Project for priority funding

8. Existing Water Distribution Water availability in a nearby community is set to decrease from 3 days per week to 1 day per week. Children haul water in any available containers.

Funding Proposal $33,000 District 7360 District Designated Funds * $ 2,000 Other Rotary Districts DDF * $28,000 80% Rotary International Match * $20,000 Generous Donor * $12,000 Rotary Clubs ($2,500 Committed) $ 5,000 Individuals ($1,200 Committed) $ 4,000 Local Company Contributors * $ 6,000 Rotary Club of Shepherdstown * $110,000 Project Completion! *committed funds

10. Socio-Economic Benefits to the Communities Access to clean and safe drinking water, about 1,400 persons, or 350 families Improved health conditions arising from clean and safe water Reduced time and expense to acquire water supplies from other sources Enhanced community organizing and cohesiveness, which can help catalyze other community initiatives
