In French, nouns have genders (masculine or feminine) and are accompanied by definite articles (un or une) based on their gender. Learning the gender of nouns is essential as it cannot be guessed from the meaning or appearance. The indefinite article "a" is represented by un for masculine nouns and une for feminine nouns. Practice exercises help reinforce understanding of gender and articles in French.
