Unemployment Insurance Unemployment Insurance (UI) Unemployment Insurance (UI) If your place of work closes, or you are directed by your employer to remain home, you may be eligible for state unemployment insurance (UI). Please visit dlt.ri.gov/ui to apply. If your claim is related to COVID-19, please indicate that on your application. DLT is waiving the usual seven day waiting period for COVID-19 related claims. Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) If you are a gig economy worker, a contract worker, small business owner, worker for hire, self-employed, or otherwise ineligible for regular unemployment insurance (UI) benefits, you may be eligible for the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program. You may also be eligible if you are out of work for another reason related to COVID-19, such as quarantine or childcare challenges. Please visit covidemergencyuibenefits.dlt.ri.gov to apply. 2

Unemployment Insurance Extended Benefits Extended Benefits Claimants whose benefits have expired may be eligible for extended benefits through the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) program (13 weeks) as well as through state Extended Benefits (EB) (20 weeks). Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) If you are unable to work due to illness or quarantine, but your place of business remains open, you may be eligible for Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI). For individuals under quarantine, DLT has waived the required medical certification for two weeks, and instead will allow them to temporarily qualify via self-attestation that they were under quarantine due to COVID-19. To apply for TDI, please visit https://dltweb.dlt.ri.gov/TDIReserve/Home. Temporary Caregiver Insurance (TCI) Temporary Caregiver Insurance (TCI) Temporary Caregiver Insurance (TCI) provides up to four weeks of benefits for a claimant to care for a family member who is ill or quarantined. Apply at https://dltweb.dlt.ri.gov/TDIReserve/Home. COVID-19 Sick Leave The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) requires many employers to provide employees with two weeks (up to 80 hours) of paid sick leave if they are quarantined or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. More information is available here: https://dlt.ri.gov/documents/pdf/ls/HSFWfactsheet.pdf For people who do not have paid sick leave (or who have exhausted it), Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) is available to those diagnosed with COVID-19 or caring for someone with COVID-19.
