Mark 11:1-11 Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King 11 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethanyat the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples,2saying to them, Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.

  4. Mark 11:1-11 Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King 3 If anyone says to you, Why are you doing this? say, The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately. 4 And they went away and found a colt tied at a door outside in the street, and they untied it.

  5. Mark 11:1-11 Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King 5 some people standing there asked, What are you doing, untying that colt? 6They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go.

  6. Mark 11:1-11 Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King 7When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it.8Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields.

Spread their cloaks and palm branches on the street and shouted "Hosanna to the Son of David" and "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord" to honor him as their long-awaited Messiah and King. 'Hosanna' (which means 'God Saves' in Hebrew)

  11. The Meaning of Palm Sunday Jesus riding a donkey and having his way paved with palm branches is a fulfilment of a prophecy spoken by the prophet Zechariah (Zechariah 9:9). The donkey was a symbol of peace. Palm Sunday is the first Day of Holy Week.
