Use of Metaphor We know that metaphor is the use of an unrelated idea to create comparison. It is very direct and creates a strong image. Why has Shakespeare chosen these metaphors? Working with the text The scene uses gaps in the meter for dramatic effect. Look at the scene on the next slide and lok for lines which are not iambic pentameter they fall short.
