Yesterday, we looked at what a letter of apology has. Write the name of the person you are writing to. (Dear: usually, dear would go at the beginning of a formal letter but when saying sorry, it s nice to be polite.) Say what you re sorry for. Tell the person how it happened. Tell the person what you will do about it. Tell the person what happened for you afterwards. Ask the person to forgive you.
But some of you said that you think Mr Grinling was wrong to put Hamish in the lighthouse. So, Hamish might write a letter of complaint to Mr Grinling. Complain To complain is to tell someone when you re not happy about something. This man is not happy with his food so he is complaining about it.
It might be that Hamish wants to complain to Mr Grinling. Let s look at a letter of complaint and think about what this has.
