  2. Leaving Cert Applied What is LCA? It is a distinct, Leaving Certificate programme aimed at preparing students for adult and working life. It is marked differently to the traditional Leaving Certificate established programme but it is still a gateway to third level education. It emphasises forms of achievement and excellence which the established Leaving Certificate has not recognised in the past. 2
