The International Criminal Court (ICC) was established in 2002 with the mission to end impunity for the most serious crimes affecting the global community. Through investigations, prosecutions, and trials, the ICC addresses crimes such as genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression. Operating from The Hague with field offices worldwide, the ICC plays a crucial role in promoting accountability and justice. The Rome Statute, adopted in 1998, serves as the foundation for the ICC's work, emphasizing international cooperation in combating grave crimes. The ICC's structure includes the Presidency, Chambers, Office of the Prosecutor, and Registry, underscoring its commitment to fair and transparent judicial processes.
