Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program PREP goal: support educational activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical research workforce Include, but are not limited to, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives/Native Hawaiians, and citizens of the U.S. Pacific Islands Intended for students who are interested in pursuing a research-focused doctoral degree in the biomedical sciences Students complete methods courses, laboratory rotations, and an independent research project They receive intensive mentoring to prepare them for graduate school

Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program Typically starts summer after senior year of college and lasts for 1-2 years Students receive a stipend ($27,200) comparable if not more than a GTA/GRA salary plus health insurance and tuition for up to 11 credit hours Application deadlines range but typically open in December and close in March Same application materials as graduate school transcripts, personal statement, CV, and letters of reference

Graduate School Fellowships Ford Foundation Pre-Doctoral Fellowship: UG seniors must be enrolled for in a PhD graduate program for the fall semester or PhD student must have at least 3 more years Graduate programs can be in American studies, anthropology, archaeology, art and theater history, astronomy, chemistry, communications, computer science, cultural studies, earth sciences, economics, engineering, ethnic studies, ethnomusicology, geography, history, international relations, language, life sciences, linguistics, literature, mathematics, performance study, philosophy, physics, political science, psychology, religious studies, sociology, urban planning, and women s studies. Also eligible are interdisciplinary ethnic studies programs, such as African American studies and Native American studies, and other interdisciplinary programs, such as area studies, peace studies, and social justice.
