Maxim Mikhailov is one of the most
titled current Russian volleyball
players, winner of gold and bronze
medals at the Olympic Games, two-
time European champion, winner of
the World Cup, the League of
Nations and the World League. At
the club level, he won the
Champions League 5 times, the
Russian Championship 7 times and
the World Club Championship once.
 
Maxim Mikhailov started playing volleyball
at the age of 8 in Kuzmolovsky with coach
Valery Emelyanovich Bezprozvannykh.
Then he continued his studies at the sports
school of the Olympic reserve "Ekran" in
St. Petersburg with the honored coach of
Russia Elena Konstantinovna Nikolaeva.
At the age of 15 he moved to Yaroslavl 
.
 
In 2005, the coach of the junior
team, Vladimir Kondra, included
Mikhailov in the application for the
World Championship in Algeria, and
Maxim was a year younger than all
his teammates.
