  3. Background Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born on May 22, 1859, and died on July 7, 1930, at age 71. He wrote some 280 articles, books, essays, plays and even poems in his lifetime. These numbers include the 60 Sherlock Holmes stories in the Sherlock Holmes Canon. He was knighted in 1902.

  4. Background We are all familiar with the four novels and 56 short stories of the Sherlock Holmes Canon written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. However, he also authored a plethora of other material .

  5. Other Sherlock Works The Sherlock Holmes novels and stories were first published between 1887 and 1927 by various publishers. Unbeknownst to me he also wrote several other Holmes stories, plays, and essays.
