Family Friendly Walkthrough and Reflection Rubric Committee Members The best way to nurture a strong relationship between school and family is to create a friendly and welcoming school environment! Family Engagement Liaison Leader/Administrator Purpose of Checklist: To assess Family Friendly practices. Parent Outreach Ambassador Faculty Member Gives school leaders opportunity to evaluate how inviting and customer friendly their school is to families and the community. Parents

Family Friendly Checklist Welcoming Environment Policies and Practices to Engage Parents Has a parent involvement policy Offers workshops and conferences to help parents understand classroom curriculum and college success. Example: Financial aid night Has a parent handbook with policies and practices available in relevant language. School website is current, useful and accessible to parents. School climate reflects a welcoming tone and respect for all families. Standards of welcoming behavior that apply to all staff. Comfortable seating. Volunteer opportunities Positive connections to community resources.

  5. Home-School Communication Has systems in place for feedback from parents regarding school climate practices. Principal and staff invite parents to ask questions and express concerns.   8. Gadsden ISD is working local agencies to provide trainings/workshops and materials to pregnant women, parents of infants and toddlers and home daycare providers. The partnering agencies are: WIC- Women, Infants and Children UNM- Ybeth Iglesias CAA-Community Action Agency Registered in the New Mexico Trainers Registry as a Master Level trainer. Children s Reading Alliance She has a Bachelor s Degree in Psychology from New Mexico State University, Master s Degree in Public Administration from the University of New Mexico. Phd student University of New Mexico. The trainings/workshops will educate the community on early childhood literacy development. At the end of the training, they will be able to define and describe developmental milestones for children ages 0-2 and utilize effective strategies to support infants and toddlers develop language and literacy skills. Provides professional development support to early childhood educators throughout the state.
