  2. PA Smart Grants Governor Tom Wolf secured $30 million for PA Smart Grants in 2019 and $40 million in 2020 to expand classroom instruction and training. These grants aim improve access to science, technology, engineering, and math education for all students. PA Smart also focuses on increasing computer science (CS) education to prepare Pennsylvania's workforce. Manheim Central received the Computer Science/STEM Targeted Grant for CS/STEM in 2019 for $35,000.

  3. Manheim Central has submitted a PA Smart Advancing Grant for 2020-2021 along with Pequea Valley, ELANCO, CAP of Lancaster, Eurofins, ABC Lumbar, Lancaster Workforce Development Board, and the Manheim Community Public Library. PA Smart Advancing Grant The requested amount is $500,000

Strategy 1: To infuse and strengthen computer science and STEM for our youngest learners (Birth to 5) and to educate parents of these young learners through Computer Science and Stem educational learning opportunities. Stem Start Now Subscriptions Birth Kits and Pre-K Kits with Stem Activities- Dispense at Local Libraries and Physician Offices Family Engagement and Play and Learn Groups with a STEM component Head Start and Manheim Central Pre-K (5 classrooms) Stem classrooms modeled after Millersville's STEM U Pre-K class

Expand the number of computer science/Stem courses offered in all three districts Expand Strategy 2: Providing additional access and support in the area of Stem and Computer Science to our underserved populations by adding programs and experiences in computer science and Stem within each district. Offer Stem After-School and summer STEM camp opportunities to learners Offer Create Create a computer science tech team at the high school Purchase needed materials for enhancing instruction and environment for Computer Science/Stem Purchase

Create Create a birth to work pathway in computer science in each district Strategy 3: Develop a birth to work computer science pathway in all districts by advancing educator professional learning through training and cross-sector learning opportunities. Establish Establish a STEM/CS elementary curriculum Map out a middle school computer science pathway in each district and provide professional development for teachers Map out Build internship opportunities for students who have completed the computer science pathway at each high school in the form of job shadowing opportunities. Build Increase the number of educators from each district that take the Computer Science Praxis to become highly qualified in computer science.
